10 am - 12 noon: AGM & Talk

29 November 2014

The Gunpowder Plot: the Midlands connection
Wychbold Village Hall, School Lane, Wychbold WR9 7PU
The next meeting of the Dodderhill Parish Survey Project will include a short AGM, a research project update and an illustrated talk.
In her illustrated talk ‘The Gunpowder Plot: the Midlands connection’ Jenny Townshend will explore the families involved in the plot against King James I of England and VI of Scotland, how they made contact with each other, and the houses where they lived. Jenny is well known for her research into documentary sources and this talk will not disappoint
The Heritage Lottery funded project: ‘Historic Droitwich – its streets and people’, is, now in its second year, and is undertaking documentary and building research. Recently dendrochronology (tree-ring dating) has been undertaken on a building in Droitwich High Street, which has helped date this historic building. Research continues and there are opportunities for others to be involved in various aspects of the project. Find out more at the meeting.
A selection of laminated maps, postcards and photographs will be on display, and local history books including “Memories of Wychbold before the Motorway”, “Dodderhill through the ages” and the new “Droitwich through Time” will be on sale.
